Gig Reviews – January

An evening of quality local rock musicians from different nations…

Andre Bernal is a powerhouse drummer with metronome-like timing, hitting a tight snare with great precision and doing perfect fills. This guy could command a job with any top rock band.

Alle Campana is your Mr. Solid bass player, a groove player, that makes this rhythm section exceptional.

Fulvio Sorrentino is a great guitarist because he always plays for the song and doesn’t showboat. He is versatile and plays a nice slide guitar that many guitarists find difficult, he also knows the strat and telecaster bright sound and applies it to further the bands sound. A real team player.

And now of course we come to Goran Spoljareviv, a truly exceptional singer and keyboard player, combining tinkly piano with Hammond organ to string effects making him an incredible asset to any band with his combination of vast talents.

The Leftovers are Eva Mancheva Hedley on lead vocals, Dave, her husband, on bass, Max Mansour on drums and Jelle Veirman on lead guitar.

Eva has a soulful voice with good delivery and phrasing and handles challenging numbers like ‘Shallow’ and ‘Black Velvet’ really well. Dave and Jelle chipped in with nice harmonies and some good individual displays on ‘Long Train Running’ and Jelle excelled on some instrumentals with really good techniques using controlled feedback and the tremolo arm combined and some tasty Wah Wah on ‘Superstition’ which Dave sang very well.

They have a really good quality set, very energetic which the audience fully appreciated. The whole afternoon was a big success. The staff gave an excellent service and the ambience was a real treat for the tourists and locals.
